Dr. Yashovardhan Sharma — Yash to those in the know — is the Advisory Innovation Lead at ISTARI, where he's scaling the firm's AI Practice and bringing his research ethos into the operations of the organisation. If it sits at the crossroads of AI and security, it's probably on his radar.
Before ISTARI, Yash was a Cyber Security Advisor at TCS, and before that, a Senior Researcher in Cybersecurity at the University of Oxford — where he led a joint project with the European Space Agency to map vulnerabilities in space-related infrastructure and assess overall system risk. As it turns out, security vulnerabilities are not constrained by Earth's gravity.
Yash holds a DPhil (PhD) in Cybersecurity from Oxford's Department of Computer Science, an MPhil in Advanced Computer Science from Cambridge, and a Bachelor of Technology (Honours) in Computer Science and Engineering from IIIT-Delhi. During his Oxford years, he worked within the Centre for Doctoral Training in Cybersecurity and the Systems Security Lab, spanning everything from advanced malware analysis and threat detection to deep learning, aviation security, trusted computing, and cryptography.
At his core, Yash is someone who gets restless when good ideas stay theoretical. He'd always rather build the system than just describe it — and if it creates real-world impact and holds up under pressure, even better.
